Many years ago, life got in the way of my having time to pursue art. Now that I’m retired, I find that I can once again get my creative juices flowing and now my pursuit of art oftentimes gets in the way of life. I often totally lose track of time. I think I’ve been working on a project for a couple of hours when in reality four or five have gone by.
I love color. Pretty much ALL colors. My art may not always be serious… but it’s seriously colorful. I don’t paint in the realism style. Too confining for me. I prefer my art to be representative of what I see or what I am imagining in my head. Gives me much more freedom and allows me to work more freely and faster.
My favorite medium when painting is oil and cold wax using painting knives or sometimes brushes. However, when it comes to making art, I don’t limit myself to oils. I use acrylics, inks, alcohol based inks, charcoal, graphite, pastels… and sometimes I still pull out my watercolors. I enjoy mixing mediums within one painting which I guess puts me in the mixed media art category.
I live in north Texas with my husband, our four legged babies, and a yard full of critters, birds and butterflies that like to come “visit”.
